Moutard Pere et Fils, Rosé Champagne
Champagne Moutard is a traditional family run business situated in the picturesque village of Buxeuil. The vineyards are located in the southern part of Champagne, on the sunny slopes of the Cotes des Bar. Very old cellar books relate their activity as vine growers back to the 17th century. Their champagnes are made from their own grapes and the grapes that they buy in from friends that are also traditional vine growers. The clay and chalky soils of the Cotes de Bar give a rich and very specific aroma to the traditional champagne vines, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In order to perfectly mature Champagnes, the cuvées are left to mature in their cellars for a minimum of three and up to 15 years for vintage champagnes. The Champagne Moutard Rosé Prestige is made form 100% Pinot Noir, fruity in the mouth, pale pink colour with pastel tints. Serve chilled with light luncheon dishes such as salmon, chicken and seafood. Floral senses of peony and iris blend with the essence of fresh fruit such as raspberries and wild strawberries evolving toward spicy and peppery aromas. A beautiful Champagne with a distinctive style. Still only £15.63 per bottle.

Telteca has carried out extensive investment in the winery and in their marketing approach over the last two years. Founded as a family company in 1936, the winery is now owned by one of the largest corporations in Argentina. Tierra Antica Sauvignon Blanc
100% Sauvignon Blanc, young fresh and fruity, grown on an alluvial soil, the grapes for this wonderful wine are hand-picked in the last week of February, transported to the winery in small containers and great care is taken to make sure they arive in optimum condition. All the bunches were destalked, and then passed gently trough the crusher, chilled and sent to the press. Here the skins remained in contact with the juice for an average of 6 hours. The juice that was extracted at very low pressure was retained in a stainless steel tank and decanted by gravity until a high level of clarity was obtained (100-120NTU. The clean juice was then transferred to a fermentation tank, to which selected yeasts were added in order to highlight and emphasise the natural aromas of the grapes. Alcoholic fermentation was performed at controlled temperatures of between 14 and 18 degrees C. After fermentation the wine was kept on the fine lees for 10 more days. Then it was protein stabilised and filtered for the first time. Consequently it was chilled to -2C inorder to avoid sediment (associated with tartaric acid) appearing in the bottles, finely filtered again and bottled. Alcohol, 13.2 %, total acidity 3.27g/l residual sugar 3.4g/l pH 3.31 Light and delicate yellow in colour, with delicious aromas of melon, apple and grapefruit showing in the nose. The palate is equally as charismatic, with passion fruit and mineral characteristics apperaing. Perfectly fresh and fruity. Enjoy now or within 2 years, A steal at £4.06 per bottle.

Podere Castorani, Abruzzi "Amorino" Rosso Colline Pescaresi LGT
This estate was already well-known in 1793 under the name of Casoni Castorani and in 2000 it was purchased by Jarno Trulli with three other partners. Currently 32 ha. are planted with an average age of vines being 25 years old and the grapes are farmed organically thanks to their location at 300 metres where a cooling wind thought the vineyards helps to maintain the vines' natural health. A new winery has just been built equipped with modern technology, and particular mention should be made of the grape drying room which is unique in that the grapes are cool-dried giving a fresher style to the resulting "Amarone" type wine. Jarno Trulli particularly appreciated Amarone and is delighted with the wine which bears his name and which is made in this style. To quote him: "I have always sought perfection in everything I do: in a racing car, where split seconds make the difference; and in the vineyard, where it has taken years of hard work to give our wine its special character and originality". 55% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, 25% Syrah, 15% Cab. Sauv and 5% Merlot make this wine, all estate grown from vines planted at 340 metres above sea level. The vines are south-west facing on a deep clay with a rich texture, trained on overhead trellises and harvested manually in October. Fermentation takes place with skins at 30C with frequent pumping-over and prolonged maceration on the skins for over 45 days in 150HL temperature controlled vats. Malolacatic fermentation takes place during maceration with the skins, and the wine is aged on the lees for 12 months in oak tonneaux. It is densely coloured, showing spice and liquorice on teh nose with pepper and chocolate through to a full-bodied palate with herbal notes and well integrated, smooth tannins. £10.36 a bottle
